Hospital and health center visit on the IDM event

 

Selected participants of the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) 24th International Day of the Midwife (IDM) celebration on May 13, 2016 under the theme: Women and Newborns: the Heart of Midwifery held at the Harmony Hotel in Addis Ababa have visited Hospital and health center in the metropolis. The Selected hospitals and health centers facilities were black lion, wereda 23, st paul and janmeda health center. During the visit, mothers who gave birth at the health facility were congratulated and provided postcards & cake. In the visited hospitals IDM was celebrated with midwives, resident Doctors and interns who showed the importance of inter-professional collaboration for minimizing maternal and child deaths.

Drama presentation at the association’s 24th IDM celebration

 

A drama from the Amhara chapter office of the association was presented at the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) 24th International Day of the Midwife (IDM) celebration on May 13, 2016 under the theme: Women and Newborns: the Heart of Midwifery held at the Harmony Hotel in Addis Ababa. The drama script was developed by the Amhara Chapter Office; the drama conveyed the  history of maternal care during labor and delivery with community women, it also explained the importance of skilled and competent midwives, the importance of the free services that has been applied for maternal care and community participation which made the service users satisfied.

Compassionate and Respectful Maternity Care presentation at the IDM

 

A presentation about Compassionate and Respectful Maternity Care (CRC) in midwifery practice  was delivered by the association Deputy –president S/r Azebe Admasu, at the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) 24th International Day of the Midwife (IDM) celebration on May 13, 2016 under the theme: Women and Newborns: the Heart of Midwifery held at the Harmony Hotel in Addis Ababa. During her presentation she indicated that CRC is one of the basic components in the quality care process, she also explained the responsibilities of midwives to stick with it.

Post-BEmONC On-site Supportive Supervision conducted at Oromia

 

The Ethiopian Midwives Association conducted post BEmONC training on-site supportive supervision in Oromia Region 4 Zones and 19 woredas in collaboration with the Oromia health bureau, zonal health office & woreda health office from the 8th of May to 24th of May 2016 at 21 different health centers. The on-site supportive supervision has aimed to identify gaps, to provide clinical mentoring support and to identify challenges in the provision of BEmONC services.

The Ethio-Canada MNCH Project is working in building the capacity of midwives

 

The Ethio-Canada MNCH has assisted  46 government owned midwifery teaching  institutions through  a four month  course composed of pedagogical, innovative simulation based workshops, practical clinical attachments and mini research projects that have proven to build the capacity of midwife instructors.This year also the graduation of Senior midwife tutor training (SMTTP) is held on the 26th of May 2016 at Enbelta Hotel in Addis Ababa.
